As I prepare for the end of this Spring semester, I look back on this semester and the opportunity I have had to watch so many fabulous children grow and develop. Some of your children have gone from being completely dependant infants to babies sitting all by themselves reaching for and grabbing instruments, or sitting/crawling babies into walking toddlers, some have gone from not saying anything or at least not much to a verbal explosion of words and thoughts. Some classes have gone from a class of strangers to a cohesive group of parents and children where at times you may not be able to tell which child belongs with which parent (the sign of true security of the children) For others the development over the past months hasn’t been as obvious but nontheless still present. One of the celebrations which mark the end of the spring semester is the Young Child Graduation class. As we approach this I am also forced to look over the last seven years. My Young Child 4 class will be graduating from Kindermusik this year. Although they are my 5th group of Kindermusik graduates there is something very special about them. This is the first group of Kindermusik students that will graduate from my studio comprised mostly of students who have been with me since they were babies! You can see by the pictures on the top of my blog that Kindermusik is designed to enhance a child’s life from birth through 7. I can tell you from my own children that I saw and continue to see such development in them and fully believe what the research and training indicate.
However, the personal experience of having taught these children for the entire breadth of their Kindermusik experience has shown me first hand what can happen with consistent and enthusiastic re-enrollment in Kindermusik. Of course the music skills are there, we wouldn’t expect anything less. But, what I have also seen is the development of these young ladies (happens to be a class of all girls – other classes have been all boys) in every area of their lives. Academic, social, emotional, and physical. They are creative, thoughtful, intelligent and kind. They are lots of fun to be around and they are characterized by their tendency to look out for one another , share with each other, and encourage one another to succeed. Just in case you need to see it to believe it. Watch them below as they play. Remember these students are currently in Kindergarten or 1st grade and I did not give them any notice that we would be video taping. It actually came about based on their interest to hear themselves play.
For those of you who have just started your Kindermusik journey or are somewhere in the middle this may seem far off. There may be a time that you wonder if there is a need to take a break, try a different activity, attend a different type of class etc. The answer to that lies within the structure and needs of each individual and each family. But, from my perspective as an educator and parent, there is no better choice for your child, than to consistently re-enroll semester after semester in Kindermusik. The foundations put in place in Village class are built upon each and every week and the pay off is great when you get to the top of the tower.

As I speak with parents about the upcoming semesters of Kindermusik both Summer and Fall, I have realized that I may not have done the best job communicating that there truly are 7 years of Kindermusik for your child. The Kindermusik Curriculum have been designed to be able to take a child from birth through 7 years without ever repeating a curricula. Need more information? Send me an email or give me a call. I love to share the specific examples of growth and development I see happening with my students on a daily basis. If you’ve never tried Kindermusik, Summer session begins soon. Give me a call to set up a free preview class. I’m sure you will be impressed with what we have to offer.
